Step 1: Update QuickBooks
If you haven’t already, update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Step 2: Check the file you’re opening
There are a lot of file types in QuickBooks Desktop. You need to open a company file (QBW) with a .qbw extension at the end of the filename. You can't open other file types, like backups (QBB) and portable files (QBM), the same way.
Step 3: Figure out what's causing the issue
Let's figure out if your company file or QuickBooks program itself is causing the issue.
Open the Windows Start menu.
Type “File Explorer” into the search and open File Explorer.
Search for and find the QuickBooks.exe file. It’s usually in your QuickBooks folder.
Hold down CTRL on your keyboard and double-click QuickBooks.exe. Don’t let go of CTRL until QuickBooks opens.
After QuickBooks opens, open your company file. If you can't, try a second test. Open QuickBooks but don't open your company file. Instead, select Open a sample file.
I hope these steps will be helpful to resolve your QuickBooks crashing issue.

Repairing the installation is one way to fix the crashing issue. I appreciate your time doing what you can to fix the issue. I have another solution for this.
It's likely within the company file itself instead of the program. Certain corrupted data in the company file can cause crashing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.
The file might be the culprit but let's ensure your QuickBooks Premier copy is updated to the latest release. Critical patches and updates can help fix the crashing issue. Here's how:
Open the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
Click to the Update Now tab.
Hit Get Updates to start the download.
Restart QuickBooks after getting the updates.
On the prompt, choose the option to install the new release. After updating, open and log in to the company file again and check to see if the issue is there.
If it still closes, then let's download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor utility. This can scan issues and help you fix them easily.
