Perhaps you wanted to align your smile when you were younger, but didn’t get around to it. The good news is it’s never too late to achieve a straight and beautiful smile. With the Invisalign system available at Surgery, you can get fantastic results without having to wear conspicuous metal “train track” braces.
What Are the Main Benefits?
One of the most significant benefits of Invisalign treatment is because wires and brackets aren’t used, it’s easy to maintain optimal oral hygiene. You can also eat whatever you wish because the aligners are removable.
Also, in addition to being discreet, the SmartTrack® material used is smooth and much more comfortable than traditional braces. The good news is the aligners won’t rub on the inside of your cheeks and lips like conventional metal braces. Additionally, because the aligners snugly fit the teeth, they won’t irritate the gums.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The first step in getting Invisalign treatment is to have an initial consultation with the dentist.
The process starts with digital X-rays, moulded impressions and photographs of your teeth to craft a digital road map that your dentist can follow. Using Invisalign’s software, our dentists can predict how your teeth will straighten over time with the aligners and can show you how your teeth will appear weeks, months and eventually at the conclusion of your treatment.
THE INVISALIGN TREATMENT PLAN
The aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, and as the patient's teeth straighten, they are replaced every two weeks or so. This means that a patient will have between 18 and 30 aligners over the course of the treatment.
The patient visits with the orthodontist every month and a half to make sure that everything is going as planned. When the treatment is over and the patient finally has the smile he or she always wanted, the orthodontist may then have the patient wear a retainer for a while to make the smile permanent.
